About Me

Hey! Here are some fun facts about me that I normally don't get to talk about while reviewing things. If you have an icebreaker-type question for me to answer that I haven't talked about below, feel free to ask in the comments!

    Q: What are your hobbies?

A: Some of the hobbies I'm involved in are dancing, reading (of course), drawing, and hanging out with my family. I'm also a writer! I dream about someday making it as a professional author, crafting novels for the fun of it all day long. Right now I mainly write in fantasy and contemporary fiction, though that may change as I continue to "hone my craft." I am a part of a national writing community called OYAN, which is the most awesome place ever. One interesting thing is that through this community a writing conference is held each summer. I've gone to it since 2018 and I've never wanted to leave!

    Q: What's your favorite color?

A: I actually have more than one! My favorites are blue (from light blue to cerulean), teal, lavender, and purple. I also like pink and yellow, too.

    Q: What makes you happy?

A: Reading a really good book, writing a really good paragraph (or so), and generally being creative, however that's expressed. My family also keeps a couple of pets, and they make me happy.

Q: Are you introverted or extroverted?

A: I actually consider myself an ambivert, because I'm a little bit of both! There are times when I'm fun and outgoing, and other times when I feel like I need space and alone time. I've realized that I tend to show more of my "extroverted" side when I get more comfortable around certain people.

Q: What are some of your favorite movies/TV shows?

A: This is a fun question for me, because one of my favorite things to do is watch something with my family. As for movies, I like most of the Disney movies I've seen, including Incredibles/Incredibles 2, Frozen/Frozen 2, Attack of the Clones, Return of the Jedi, the Force Awakens, the Last Jedi, Rise of Skywalker, WALL-E, and Tangled. (My personal hope is to get to watching Up, Inside Out, Toy Story, High School Musical, Brave, and all the Disney princess movies I haven't seen sometime soon.) Some of my other favorite movies are God's Not Dead/ God's Not Dead 2, I Can Only Imagine, Courageous, and The Stolen Princess. Some of my favorite TV shows are The Andy Griffith Show and Star Trek: Voyager, and Stargate (SG-1).

Q: What are some of your favorite books/authors?

A: Aaah, I can't choose just one! (I also know that if I ask myself this, I'll keep editing and re-editing this question for as long as this blog lives.) Some of my favorite authors so far are Erynn Mangum, Natalie Lloyd, Edward Eager, Louisa May Alcott, Jordyn Hadden, Jenny B. Jones, Rosey Mucklestone, Jeramy Clark, Jill Williamson, Sadie Robertson, Missy and Mia Robertson, and Gail Carson Levine. Some of my favorite books/book series are the Warriors series (honestly, I think it's contributed to my writing style), the Ever After High books (old but good), the Story Thieves series (gotta love all the meta-angst), the Spirit Animals series (again, good memories and excessive fan-girling here),The Unlikely Story of a Pig in the City, Ella Enchanted, the Magic series (all awesome!), the Princess in Camo series (I love the mother-daughter team-up, the writing style, and just all of it!), Karina Yan Glaser's Vanderbeekers series, the Paige Alder series, Extraordinary, the Girl With a Chocolate Heart series (so good!), Blank Mastermind, Within These Lines, the Tuesdays at the Castle series, and many of the books I've reviewed on here!

Q: Why did you start Stepping Stones Book Reviews?

A: This blog was a personal project of mine (I make no money from this). I started it both because I wanted to gain more writing experience and because I love giving good book recommendations to other people. I think it's so exciting when someone is able to give you a new story to love to pieces. I also know that it's tiring to sift through all the good stories, the "so-so" stories, and all the ones that look interesting but can actually be hazardous to you both in life and spiritually. I hope that my content on this blog can combat some of that, and help readers get caught into new, exciting worlds either with their family or by themselves. I believe fiction is its own kind of magic!

  1. Hi, JadeSky, I don't know if you remember me from Allie Andersen's blog or not. I was checking out your site, it looks amazing!!! And, wow, we have soooo much in common. I've seen most of the movies you listed, and the TV shows I'm currently watching is Disney Channel's A.N.T. Farm and Wizards of Waverly Place. And The Mandalorian.

Now, on to the books!! I've read some of Natalie Lloyd's books. (Not in a while, though.) And I LOVE the Story Thieves series. (Don't you just wish Moriah showed up more? She was my FAVORITE.) And I've been DYING to get my hands on a Jill Williamson book. (Especially Thirst, because that looks really cool.) I've read There You'll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones, but that's it. (So far!) Have you read it? Oh, and did you hear about the movie they're making on it? I don't know how well I'm gonna like it since they're changing stuff, but the guy who played Chad in Descendants is playing Beckett Rush, so I'm excited for that.

Anyway, I hope you didn't mine my super long comment. I think your site looks AMAZING!! I'm definitely gonna stick around! ;)

    1. Hey, Maggie! Yes, I definitely remember you from the blog. So glad you decided to stop by!

That's so cool! I've wanted to watch the Mandalorian for a long time now. Nice! Yes, Moira was an amazing character. She seriously had so much spark, snark, and potential in her. :) I have read "There You'll Find Me". I honestly didn't like it a ton, but I'm excited for the author and the story because of the movie. I've heard the names of the stars of the movie, but hadn't made the Descendants connection before. Very cool!

I don't mind your long comment at all (long comments are awesome) and am so thrilled that you checked it out and want to see more! That means a ton to me. :) Hope you enjoy all my future posts!
