Narnia Blog Tag

Hey! I got tagged for S.J. Barnard's Narnia Blog Tag yesterday, and thought it was such a fun idea that I wanted to post about it IMMEDIATELY. I honestly didn't know blog tags were a thing before this, but now I want to participate in them as much as I do book memes!

I'm definitely going to have a blast with this. 😁

Here are the rules (as dictated by S. J. Barnard):

1. Thank the person who nominated you

2. Describe the rate of your Narnia fanatic (Nostalgic, Serious, Maniacal)

3. Answer the questions below

4. Tag 5+ bloggers

5. Have fun!

1. First off, a huge thank-you to Allie Andersen for tagging me! You can find her awesome blog HERE.

Maniacal FanaticYou have lived Narnia from childhood, hid in closets on more accounts than is healthy, have read and watched all the movies including the BBC version

Based on her definitions of "Narnia Fanatic", I'd say I'm a Serious Fanatic. I am not a huge Narnia fan, just because I didn't discover the series early enough to get really into it. (Back when most Nostalgics and Maniacs were diving into the wonder of C.S. Lewis's writing, I was more interested in fangirling over Warriors and Ever After High. 😋) Now, while I can't say I've fully read all of the series, I have read books one through six, and watched all the movies.

3. Below are my answers to all the questions.

Who is your favorite Pevensie sibling?

Probably either Edmund or Lucy. Lucy is just so fun to spend time with, and Edmund's growth as a character is very relatable. I liked that Edmund was more "rebellious" and hard to deal with than the rest of his siblings seem to be.

What is the most underrated book in Narnia?

I'd say The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I know, I know, it's not THAT non-discussed, especially because of the movie based on it, but I still think that the actual book had some great scenes and themes in it that were cut out of the movie. Including the bundle of sass and interest that is Eustace's diary. I love snarky characters 😂

Who is your favorite Narnian king?

King Caspian, because he stuck to the original ideals of Narnia and I think was a good ruler overall.

Who is your favorite Narnian queen?

Honestly, I can't think of any except Lucy or Susan...so probably Lucy. (I still haven't really forgiven Susan.)

Which non-human Narnian do you like best?

Either Aslan, because he's Aslan, or Reepicheep, because of his loyalty. Reepicheep would be a good character to have on your side.

Which book deserves a movie?

The Horse and His Boy. Definitely. It was a fun adventure, I liked that this time it didn't have to be about the Pevensies (though their cameos were nice), and it would be a great way to get more people to enjoy Narnia, who haven't previously read any of the books or seen the movies.

What is one thing you did as a Narnia fanatic you do not regret?

Daydream about finding a magic world in my closet. Also, go to a girl's house last year and comment that her family's wardrobe looked exactly like the Narnia one.

4. To pass this prompt on, I decided to tag:

5. Well, I think I had fun with this post and all the questions! Hmm, maybe I should think about getting back into Narnia...

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post, and hearing all my ramblings about this awesome series! What kind of Narnia fan would you describe yourself as? What would be your answers to the questions?

When I first posted my interview with Livy Jarmusch earlier this week, I mentioned that there would be another author interview the coming week. Actually, what I meant to say is that it'll be posted AFTER next week, not during! Sorry about the confusion. Instead, I'll be reviewing a classic novel that is one of the most thought-provoking and powerful reads I've ever been able to get my hands on.

  2. Oooh, YOU DID THE NARNIA TAG!!!! One of the girls I blog with did it, too. (And was actually the one who tagged Allie...I guess she started a chain reaction.) I'd probably be Nostalgic. Mainly 'cause I've never read any of the books except #2. But I've seen all the movies!!!! *cheesy thumbs up* Let's just say all of my answers would be EDMUND (except for Narnia queen). I know he doesn't really work for half of the questions, but I JUST LOVE THIS GUY!!! So, yes, that's my answer and I'm sticking to it. ;) I LOVED READING YOUR POST!!!!

    1. That's so awesome. Yeah, I guess she did. Nice! Yes, Edmund is AWESOME. :) Just 'cause I'm curious, what would your favorite Narnia movie be? Yay, I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks, as always, for reading and commenting.

    2. Easy answer: PRINCE CASPIAN!!!!! I love it mainly because I feel like Edmund came so far from the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. Plus did you see him fighting with that sword!!! Aaaannnnddd, this last reason is pretty crazy, but he looked really good in armor. Just saying. ;) What about you?

  5. Fun post! I loved reading C.S. Lewis's books growing up and still smile whenever I think of them. Does that make me a nostalgic fanatic? And Lucy is definitely my favorite character! I'll have to see if I can come up with a Narnia post of my own...no promises. But maybe. :D

  6. Thanks for tagging me! I really appreciate you thinking of me! I hate to admit this, but I've never read the Narnia books. It's one of those series that I really want to read, but have just never gotten around to it. I'm hoping one of these days though. I do have them, so that's a step in the right direction. And your post has me even more eager to read them. I'll definitely revisit this tag when I do read them. Thanks again! Hope you have an awesome weekend! :D

    1. No problem. I thought you might enjoy the tag. Yes, the Narnia books are definitely worth checking out! (I totally relate to having a ton of books on my TBR, and accidentally forgetting to read most of them XD)

Thanks for reading and commenting, and I hope you have a good weekend too.

  7. Tags are so much fun! I'm thinking about creating one myself. Great answers. I love Caspian. He's awesome. This is my first time at this site. The stepping stone pictures are gorgeous.

    P. S. I love Ever After High, too! :) :) :)

    2. Hey! Welcome to the site! I don't really get to meet a lot of EAH fans so I'd love to fangirl over the story with you sometime! I'd also love to hear more about the story idea the photo I chose is giving you...:)

      Thanks for stopping by!

      Delete
    3. Thank you. I'd love to fangirl over EAH! Have you read all the books?/Seen the series? Ooh, thank you for asking: I'm thinking, maybe a fairy lives near the river with all the stepping stones and she has to guard/protect the river for some reason.

      Delete
    4. I have read all the books (including the Suzanne Selfors one) and seen the cartoons. How about you? What's your favorite character?

Ooh, that story idea sounds great!

      Delete
    5. I have read four of the books by Shannon Hale and two by Suzanne Selfors. I need to read to go through and read all the books. I've seen all the episodes and the movies. I use to draw the characters and sometimes I drew them in outfits that I designed. EAH was such a GENIUS idea! It's hard to choose a favorite but I really like Ashlynn Ella and Rosabella Beauty. What's your favorite character?

      Thank you!!!

      Delete
    6. Nice! You definitely should. :) I really liked the ones by Suzanne Selfors because they were well done and featured characters that aren't often focused on in the cartoons and other books. Nice! I know, right? I loved EAH because of the brilliant way it portrayed fairytales. My favorite character would probably be Raven Queen or Poppy O'Hair. If you were at EAH, would you be a Royal or a Rebel?

      Delete
    7. Ooooh, I hope you don't mind me jumping in. But I LOVE EAH and I just had to answer your question. I'm a DEFINITE rebel. (And I JUST LOVE RAVEN QUEEN!!!! Her and Dexter Charming are like just so perfect for each other.) Sorry, a bit of my crazy fangirl came out.

      Delete
    8. Oh, yes, Suzanne Selfors did an AMAZING job with EAH. With the ones that I did read I was impressed! Ooh, those are cool characters. I've always said that I am an EAH rebel because of wanting to "write my own destiny." What about you? When the dragon games are held, would you compete in them?

      Delete
    9. Yay! So glad you're in this conversation, Maggie!

Yes, I'd call myself a Rebel. I honestly found myself struggling to understand the Royal side when I was younger :) . Yes, Dexter and Raven are cute. (Honestly they were the only couple I really shipped while into the series.)

When the dragon games are held, I think it would be fun to compete in them. (Though, honestly, after watching all the HTTYD movies, I think I'd rather participate in those tournaments.) What about you? Also, which EAH character would you say you're most like?

      Delete
    10. Oh, yeah, Maggie, we can all fangirl over EAH!

Cool! Yeah, I like Raven and Dex together. I thought Epic Winter turned out great with Rosabella and Daring. It was like he was in the beauty & the beast story. It was just so so sweet! :) I would totally compete in the games as well.(and probably sing "Power Princess Shining Bright" while I'm at it.) I've never watched HTTYD but I've heard good things about it. Hmm, hard to say - I'm shy like Ashlynn. What about you?

      Delete
    11. YES, DEXTER AND RAVEN ARE JUST THE CUTEST I WILL FANGIRL OVER THEM FOR LIKE FOREVER!!!! Oh, yes, I would sooooooo compete in the dragon games. I'd be on Raven's team. (Fun fact: to show how obsessed with these books I got I have like FOUR of the Raven Queen dolls (and a Cerise, Holly O'Hair, Apple, Darling Charming, and Briar) I never got Dexter, and am still upset about that to this day.) I don't know why I'm rambling about all of this. I think it's due to the lack of sleep I've been getting. I'm a writer in NaNo after all. Sleep gets tossed out the window this time of year.

      Delete
    12. If you haven't watched HTTYD, you definitely should! :)

Nice. I liked how Epic Winter went, but was super disappointed that they stopped right there. I mean, all of them never even got to graduate, and there was so much more they could've done with the series! I never got into the EAH merchandise, but I do have a couple of the Suzanne Selfors books lying around. I really liked how the characters and setting came so alive in the books that the whole series began to have more meaning and depth. I would probably say I'm a mix of Holly, Poppy, and Maddie. I remember when the EAH site was up and I took the personality quiz and always got Maddie. I remember being super frustrated because I thought I was nothing like her, but now, looking back, I can see some parts of me that line up with her and her quirkiness.

XD Same, Maggie! What are you working on for NaNo? And Katherine, are you doing NaNo?

      Delete
    13. Yeah, I would've liked to see them graduate. I actually think I'm more like Maddie now in my teen years. I dunno, I've never taken a quiz. (Actually, I think I have, but I don't remember what I got.)
Okay, so I'm *technically* not doing NaNo, but my writing looks a lot like someone who is. So, I might be unofficially doing it? Anyway, what I've been working on is a YA contemporary retelling of Aladdin. I'd say it's been one of the craziest things I've ever written. (I also think my lack of sleep has resulted in some serious insanity. I mean, if you get the time, you should read the latest post I did on my blog. I interviewed the MC to my WIP...and I just think I have lost all my sanity. If you do read it (but it's okay if you don't wanna), tell me if I'm as crazy as I think.) Anyway, I feel like there was something else I wanted to say, but I guess I'm just gonna end my comment 'cause I don't remember what I was gonna say.

      Delete
    14. I know! I really need to watch them.

I know! They really could've done more. I own Truth or Hair by Suzanne Selfors and the first one by Shannon Hale. Yes, the world of EAH was very real to me. :) Nice! I remembered that site too! I love playing games on it. Wait, it had a personality quiz? I wish I knew this before now. Haha, awesome!

Crow, my working bees, but my letters that fly on paper continue. :) (Hehe. I answered in Riddlish. Try and guess what I said.)

      Delete
    15. Interesting! I guess, honestly, we have a little of Maddie in all of us, Maggie :) I'll definitely check your blog out!

In your guys' opinion, what do you think they should've done to end the series? How do you think all the EAH characters would have moved on and grown up? (I have a few ideas, but I'd love to hear yours first!)

XD Nice! Maggie I LOVE fairytale remakes (although I guess you could guess that seeing as I love EAH) so that idea sounds awesome. Katherine, nice Riddlish answer! (I think you're saying that you aren't participating in NaNo, but still writing?) I always thought it would be cool to learn how to speak in Riddlish, but could never understand it enough to make up my own sentences/phrases.

So, I know that most of the EAH students have different magical powers they use (Apple's singing, Darling's hair flipping, etc.). Which one would you want to have and why?

      Delete
    16. Okay, I found a personality quiz of EAH online. I took it last night and got Ashlynn Ella. Yay! I figured I was most like her.

I would've liked to have seen how things worked out with Rosabella and Daring. And I'm wondering who's going to be Apple's prince now. Basically, I want to know how the relationships worked out for everyone. I guess everyone is writing their destiny now. Most of the Royals begin to lean on the Rebel side. (I think I have my facts right. I could be wrong since I don't remember much on how the series ended.) What are your thoughts?

I love fairytale remakes too!!!!!! :) Thank you! :) You are CORRECT!!! I was looking through the Madeline Hatter Riddlish book to come up with my sentence. Hmm, maybe Briar's ability to hear things far away when she is asleep because that would be just so so cool. What about you? What wonderland character are you?

      Delete
    17. Hmmmm.... I honestly don't really know. I haven't thought about it before. I mean I sooooo would've liked to see like the whole graduation ceremony. That would've been the best way to end it. Hopefully Raven and Dexter remained together. And, yeah, Katherine, I think at the end of the winter show (Suddenly my mind is drawing a blank and won't let me remember what it was called.) all of the Royals chose to write their own destinies. (I'm soooo proud of them Royals! They're all growing up so fast. *grabbing a tissue*)

I think I'm sooooo horrible at answering these questions. It's been like FOREVER since I've read the books. (Did you ever read that one Shannon Hale wrote where Monster High met EAH?) I'd have Lizzie Hearts magic to build things out of cards. I mean when could that NOT be useful? Think about it, anything you want put a few cards together and BAM!! (Although, I'm really not sure if that's EXACTLY how it works. ;)

      Delete
    18. That's so cool, Katherine! I should re-take one, too...

Yeah, those are both good points, you guys! I would've loved to see the graduation scene, and also just what all of the students would be doing with their lives from now on. I feel that there would be some extra tension with all the future stuff actually happening, which would be interesting to see. Also, just Headmaster Grimm's reaction to EVERYTHING. XD

Yes, I read the Monster High/EAH crossover! It was interesting. (For some reason I never could get into the Monster High series.) I'd probably want to have Darling's power, because it would be interesting to have all that extra time on your hands.

If the Suzanne Selfors EAH books continued, which students would you want to see featured in them?

      Delete
    19. What I really wanna say in answer to your question but know it doesn't really work but I'm gonna say it anyway: RAVEN QUEEN!!!!
      *silence*
      *crickets chirping in the distance*
*everyone staring at me like I missed the point*
I KNOW. Raven doesn't really work 'cause she already got Shannon's books, but I JUST LOOOOVE HER SO MUCH I DON'T REALLY CARE!!!! But, if no Raven, then I'm going for Cerise and her sister that's only mention in the movies. There's just sooo much to know about them. Also, I'm with you on that. I've never gotten into Monster High. I only read the book 'cause EVER AFTER HIGH WAS GETTING A RETURN FROM SHANNON HALE!!!! *taking deep breaths from my loud ranting*

      Delete
    20. I agree with you. And Headmaster Grimm's reaction would be really funny! XD Darling's power would be pretty cool. :) I would like to see probably Crystal Winter or Rosabella Beauty featured in their own book. Oh, and maybe Hunter but that might not work out since the guys weren't in the spotlight in any of the books. What about you? I'm the same way; I never got into Monster High. It's just not the same as EAH. Oh, I just found out that there was an EAH book series called Once Upon a Twist. Does anybody know when they came out? Were they good? How come I didn't know about this until now?

      Delete
    21. Nice! I would love to see more from those characters, too. Yeah, the guys aren't really featured in any of the books or cartoons...XD I'd probably want to feature Charity Charming (she was mentioned in Shannon Hale's prequel to the EAH books) or maybe some of the newer characters they hadn't had a chance to showcase, like Justine Dancer.

Okay, yes! So the Once Upon a Twist books were released about...2018? (I can't remember XD) I actually remember picking up a copy. I think they were good enough, but didn't have as much depth to them as some of the other books. Really good premise, though!

Have any of you seen the EAH Yearbook? It's mostly filled with stuff EAH fans already know, but it's done in a really cool format!

      Delete
    22. I've heard of the Once Upon a Twist books but have never read any. They didn't look like they'd be as good. No, I actually haven't heard of the EAH Yearbook before. I'm definitely gonna check this out!! Also, I hope it's okay, but I mentioned your blog in my recent post.

      Delete
    23. Ooh, that would be cool! Although, I don't remember Charity. *shrugs* Oh, I really like Justine Dancer. I almost put her down as one of the ones I would like to see in a book.

Okay. Thank you. Wow-2018-that wasn't that long ago. :) I've never seen the EAH Yearbook before. It looks like it would be cool though. :) Awesome!!!

      Delete
    24. Okay, okay, got it. Yay, I'm so glad! And no worries! Thanks for the extra promotion, Maggie! :)

Yeah, Charity wasn't that big of a character. I just thought she was interesting because at the Charming Family Reunion Shannon Hale writes about she uses the damsel in distress game as an excuse to read. (Sooo me XD) I actually included her in an unfinished EAH fanfiction I wrote about the next generation of kids attending EAH.

Have any of you made any EAH fanfiction or fan art?

      Delete
    25. You're welcome!!

When I was younger I was super into paper dolls. At one time I tried to draw every single character from EAH books and movies as a paper doll. I came REALLY close to drawing them all. But that's about all I've done. Oooh, your EAH fanfic sounds cool!

      Delete
    26. Cool! Lol. You wrote an EAH fanfiction? THAT'S AWESOME!!!!!!! Next generation of kids - great idea! :) Like I mentioned earlier, I drew some of the characters like Meeshell Mermaid, Briar Beauty, Madeline Hatter, and Raven Queen. Oh, and I also made bookmarks based off the books. Did you do any fanart?

      Delete
    27. I am *not* the best artist, so I never drew any of the characters. Nice! Which was your favorite to draw?

      Delete
    28. I would say that I enjoyed drawing Meeshell the best because I drew her in an awesome party dress that I designed!

      Delete
    29. Ahem, don't get upset with me guys: RAVEN QUEEN!!!!!!
      I rest my case.
Also, I forgot but I did do like a fan pic of my friend's EAH doll of Maddie. (I don't think that's REALLY what you call it, but that's what I'm going for.)

      Delete
    30. Nice, Katherine! And nice Maggie! (Yes, Raven Queen is THE BEST.)
      That's really cool!
If you could meet any EAH character in real life, who would you choose and why? Who do you think you'd get along with the best?

      Delete
    31. Thank you! I would want to meet Rosabella Beauty because I like how kind she is and looks at the heart of other people. Because of that, I would probably get along with her very well. And I think I would get along with Cedar Wood really well too because she seems like the kind of person that is easy to get along with. What about you?
Which do you prefer: a fire-breathing dragon or an ice dragon?

      Delete
    32. Hmmm....EAH character...Sorry, guys, but I think we all know what's coming. RAVEN QUEEN!!!! That's who I'd want to meet, but I think I'd get along better with either Maddie or Darling Charming. (And probably Raven...yes, I had to add her in. Again. Hehehehe...)
Also, JadeSky, did you see my comment on your latest post. You never replied to it, so I don't know if you accidentally missed it.

      Delete
    33. Nice! I would definitely love to meet Raven or Ginger Breadhouse, too, but don't know if I would actually have a lot in common with them. I think I'd have the most in common with Holly O'Hair, as we're both writers and have sisters! I would definitely prefer a fire-breathing dragon. What about you?
Thanks for letting me know about the comment, Maggie! Strange...I did see it and did reply. Sorry that it may not be coming up for you!

      Delete
    34. Ooh, those are good choices! Holly O'Hair is awesome! I'm a writer too!!! I think I would choose an ice dragon because it looked so cool in EAH.
Hmm, I didn't see you reply to Maggie either. (That's puzzling.)

      Delete
    35. Oops! Looks like I read the comment but forgot to post a reply. Sorry about that! I really did enjoy reading it and am so sorry that I didn't see this earlier!

      Delete
    36. Oh, it's not a problem. Just wanted to make sure that you saw it and all. I figured it was just that you thought you had commented and all.
Anyway, I would want an ice dragon, 'cause of Darling Charming. Yes, fiction people influence my choices. ;)
