Can't-Wait Wednesday: Cabin Girl

Hi, and welcome to another Can't-Wait-Wednesday blog post, part of my ongoing Week of Book Memes event! (To view all of the other Week of Book Memes posts I've done in the past and this week, click HERE.)

Today I'm really excited about this post, as the soon-to-be-released book I'm featuring is written by another young author. The premise itself sounds amazing, and I can't wait to read it for myself! I'm also hoping to review the full story after it's released, so stay tuned for that post!

Below, check out the cover, synopsis, and my reasons for being so excited about this. Click on the author's name to go to her website. She's been recently blogging on it as well as talking about her book, so go there and read some of her awesome posts!

Cabin Girl by E.G. Bella
Release Date: TBD (sometime in early 2021)

Four years ago, Erin O’Connell’s papa disappeared at sea. Long after Erin has given up on his return, her mama continues to watch the horizon, her grasp of reality slipping and memories blurring. Young Erin learns all she can of medicine, desperate to provide for her mama and sister, and spends her days struggling to assist villagers who shun her for her crooked back.

One night, Barbary pirates raid her village, and Erin – mistaken for a boy – is torn her from her home and family. The truth sparks upset – and a plan. Until reaching the slave markets in Morocco, Erin is forced to tend to the sick quartermaster. In addition, she must serve as cabin girl to the hard-hearted Captain Gills, a man bent on thwarting her every attempt to return home, to the family she prays still lives.

But Erin soon finds that all is not what it seems aboard The Lonely Eye. Unrest brews and mutiny whispers. Allies appear in unexpected places. A cunning enemy plots. What if Erin never makes it home? Will the God she trusts carry her through the storms? And how can something so painful ever bring good? The answers are unlike anything she expects.

Why I'm Waiting on This: The premise of this book both reminds me of historical fiction and a rollicking ocean adventure, similar to the Patience Goodspeed books (which I LOVED). There is already so much action, implied character development, and intrigue in the synopsis that I just know I'm in for a good story. I can't wait to meet Erin and see what her journey's like.

So, after reading, what do you think about Cabin Girl? Would you want to read it? What are you Waiting on Wednesday for? Let me know in the comments, and if you posted on your blog about it, send me a link!

Join me on Friday for one last Week of Book Memes post...
